작가는 비인간 존재들을 다양한 목소리로 불러내고 있는 홍이현숙 작가를 초대하여 날로 심각해지는 기후 위기와 그간 흑표범이 쫓아온 여성, 퀴어, 이주 등의 소수자 이슈를 연결한다. 우리가 당면하고 있는 생태의 문제와 젠더 이슈가 남성 중심적인 세계에서 함께 파생된 공동의 문제임을 확인하는 장이자 서로에 대한 지지체로써 워크숍과 프로젝트를 활용하며 두 여성 작가의 목소리를 강화한다. 그 첫번째 단계로 이번 전시에서는 가파도에서 두 작가가 함께 머물며, 또 다른 존재가 되어가는 서로의 퍼포먼스를 촬영한 사진 일부를 공개한다. 또한 두 작가가 나눈 대화나 자연의 소리를 채집한 사운드 등은 작품과 함께 배치된 QR코드를 통해 감상할 수 있다.

Black Jaguar and Hong Lee Hyunsook filmed each other’s performance

Black Jaguar invited artist Hong Lee Hyun-sook, whose practice variously engages with non-human beings, to collaboratively explore connections between climate crisis, issues of gender, queer, and migration. The voices of the two female artists are strengthened through activation of workshops and projects where interdependence can be practised. They argue that ecological and gender issues we face today are generated by patriarchal systems. Alongside the workshops, the exhibition also features photographs of the artists taken by each other while staying at Gapa Island, Jeju. These images capture each person performing the process of becoming the Other being. Conversations between the two artists and field recordings accompany the printed photographs as QR codes.
