<비둘기야 높이 날아라>, <저 강 너머>, <반갑습니다>는 사회적으로 소외되고 주변부로 여겨지는 대상을 사진에 담아온 이동근이 7년 동안 탈북민 공연단인 아리랑 예술단을 기록한 다큐멘터리 사진작업과 함께 제작된 영상작품이다. 아리랑 예술단은 겉으로는 화려하고 반짝이는 키치적인 의상과 장치를 이용하여 북한의 춤과 노래를 소개한다. 북한에서 탈출하여 남한으로 왔지만, 남한에서도 그들은 여전히 북한의 춤과 노래를 통해 생계를 이어가는 그들은 분단에 의해서 이루어진 디아스포라의 모습이자 남한 사회에 편입되지 못한 채 경계에 있는 삶을 살아간다. 이동근은 영상을 통해서 그들의 삶과 이야기를 담당하게 포착하고 있다.

Three documentary videos by Lee Dong-geun, Fly High Pigeon, Over the River, and Nice to Meet You were produced along with a photography series that document the Arirang Art Troupe, a North Korean defector performance group. Lee has been photographing socially marginalized subjects for seven years. The Arirang Art Troupe introduces North Korean dance and song using colorful and shiny kitschy costumes and devices. Although the troupe’s members escaped North Korea, they have to make a living in South Korea by performing traditional North Korean dances and songs. Lee Dong-geun captures the ironies of their lives and stories through video.
